Two awards from the Institution of Civil Engineers

Great honours for the Geomechanics group: The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE, London, UK) awarded the 2013 George Stephenson Medal for the second-best paper across more than 30 journals published by the ICE to Alexander Puzrin and Andreas Schmid, and the 2013 Geotechnical Research Medal for the best geotechnical paper published by the ICE to Alexander Puzrin, John Burland and Jamie Standing.
Golden Owl 2013 to Alexander Puzrin

Professor Puzrin received one of the 2013 Golden Owls. The award was initiated by the students association of ETH Zurich, VSETH and honours lecturers who have provided exceptional teaching. This is the second Golden Owl for Prof. Puzrin, after having received the award already in 2009.
